We will begin the day at the Totnes Boating Association Clubhouse before heading off along the river to listen, share and create stories. Lisa will tell ancient and modern stories of the great Dart from source to sea.

Teas/coffees and cake will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Tales of the Dart - Folk Tales of the Dart River

Badgers Holt

We will begin the day at Badger’s Holt before taking a guided walk along the River Dart from Dartmeet. Lisa will tell ancient and modern stories of the great Dart from source to sea. Teas/coffees and cake will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.

If you have signed up to this event, you should have received an email which has allocated you a space on the morning or afternoon story walk. Please use the contact page to get in touch if you have not received an email.

The morning story walk will take place between 10:30-13:00. The afternoon story walk will take place between 13:30-16:00.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the walk so that we can sign you in.

Lisa and Emma will delve into the river’s stories through its ecology, history and geology, as well as inviting stories from you about your connection with the river. For children aged 7 to 70, we will be encouraging you to create your own River Story Stick with natural items found along the way.

Walking Level: Easy – linear out and back walk of approximately 2 miles/3 kilometres on grassy and rocky paths parallel to the river. Ground may be wet and muddy in places.

What to Wear/Bring Recommendations: Sturdy walking boots, sunscreen, warm layers including hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast), picnic lunch, snacks and drinks. Sorry no dogs.

Cancellation Policy: This event is funded so free for you to attend. Therefore appreciate your full commitment to the day and project. If there is any possibility of you not being able to attend, please get in contact with us as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone on the waitlist.
